Important Safety Recall: Shimano 11-Speed Cranksets

Mulga News

Shimano has published a global product safety recall of its 11-speed bonded Hollowtech road cranksets manufactured between 1 June 2012 – 30 June 2019.

This recall covers a significant number of bike models some of which many of you may have in your garage.

The bonded crank parts can separate and break, causing the crank arm to separate from the main crank arm-body. There is a risk of a fall or crash if the crank arm separates while you are riding.

Shimano and the ACCC recommends: “Consumers should not use a bike with Shimano Ultegra or Dura-Ace cranksets until they check if theirs is an affected model.”
