Biography

Peg is a clothes peg with a difference - a one-of-a-kind, adventurous clothes peg. Not content with simply holding laundry in place, Peg has embarked on a journey to discover the beauty and diversity of Australia.

Peg’s larger-than-life personality and ability to create iconic experiences has seen Peg quickly become a well-known figure in the Australian outdoor adventure space, joining an elite list of world celebrities known by a single name – Shackleton, Ringo, Adele, Sagan, Tiger, Beyonce and Bear.

Peg’s passion for adventure and deep knowledge of Australia's most beautiful and off-the-beaten-track places was why we appointed Peg as Mulga Bicycle Tours new location scout and fixer.

“I am grateful for the trust Denise and Mark have shown in me and I am excited by this opportunity to create new and unforgettable experiences for our guests.” Peg recently told local radio.

Peg's early life is shrouded in mystery, with little known about Peg’s place of birth or family background. However, Peg always grew up under a cloud, knowing many members of the family were sent to waste early in their lives due to their propensity to become brittle and break when left in the sun. Determined not to add to Australia’s overburdened plastic waste system, Peg began a journey of rediscovery and a search for a new reason for being.

Growing up, Peg was always fascinated by stories of adventure and travel but Peg’s family's financial struggles meant the family never got the chance to explore very far beyond Charters Towers.

One of Peg’s teachers, Miss Poly-Ethylene Glycol, recognised Peg’s passion for adventure and physical activity and introduced Peg to cycling and the discipline required for the Japanese martial art known as Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. The art has an emphasis on mental and spiritual development and the use of natural body movement, stealth, and strategy over raw strength and speed.

Peg dropped out of school early after Peg’s parents separated from their clips. After a short time on the wrong line Peg inherited the family business after Peg’s father disintegrated as a result of being left unused in the sun. Unfortunately the business failed shortly afterwards when Peg was unable to pivot to take advantage of changing government regulations. Forced to take on casual work, Peg quickly became disillusioned.

Peg never lost the sense of wanderlust, and after a short period of unemployment Peg decided to embark on a journey to see all that Australia had to offer. Peg has been travelling ever since.

Peg's journey may be unconventional, but Peg is determined to see and experience all that Australia has to offer.

Along the way Peg is inspiring others to follow their dreams and to make the most of every opportunity, proving that no matter how small and insignificant one may feel, we all have the power to chase our dreams and make something of ourselves.

“I am not one to shy away from an opportunity … and I owe Miss Glycol for this, she was a very positive influence at a time when I could have easily fallen off the line … I feel very fortunate to be a part of the team at Mulga Bicycle Tours, the positive and safe work environment they provide allows me to focus on dreaming up and creating the best cycling experiences for our guests. … I particularly enjoy the buzz I get when I discover a quirky place or venue … as well as introducing newcomers to cycle touring."
